Because I'm Free!
April 2019, Issue 24
Would you believe it’s been two years that we’ve been putting out this monthly newsletter of the measured growth and progress of our dream? This is issue 24! That being said, it’s time for a change. This issue marks our last monthly publication, and first quarterly report of “What’s Up With Omni?”
Well, there are a couple of reasons: 1) We’re in a place of slow growth, and 2) we need to focus our energies elsewhere.
Since we’ve decided to make northwest US the place to plant our roots of intentional community, movement and growth seem to have stopped. Don’t worry, there is much movement underground in the laying of foundations. It’s behind-the scenes kind of work, so we’re quieting down, for a while.
One aspect of The Omni Foundation vision is that we provide a place for creative productivity and industry, particularly in the fields of music recording, spiritual/literary publishing, and production of goods from other arts and permaculture farming. Well, now is the time to build our product base for music and books, and learn some hands-on permaculture skills.
The place we’ve been living, for the past month, has proven beyond ideal! If we didn’t have plans for a different future, we would be content here for years to come. We have found community, privacy, serenity, and a place to create, like gardening, gathering together, writing, music making, crafting, teaching and parenting.
Sad to say, we have no pics of having friends over for dinner (the Smyths and the Frasers), for Cameron’s famous bean curry, or of Open Mic at Canimambo—a great time jamming!
April takes us into the music recording studio. We will be producing a ten-song CD called “Because I’m Free.” This has been a very long-time dream, and we are excited to finally be making it happen! Thank you to Cameron who has taken on the reins of managing me. I couldn’t do it without him.
Normally this section is about looking out toward others’ achievements and contributions, but this month (or this quarter), it’s more of a stepping out for me, Leah Kirrane. Yes, I’ve promoted myself rather clumsily, apologetically, and unprofessionally over the years, but it’s time to be confident about who I am and what I have to offer.
So, please visit my new website, check out my music, books and poetry, and sign up to receive my (occasional) news releases.
As autumn settles in South Africa, so we slow our movement and come to rest, with fire burning brightly within.
“Jesus said: If they say to you: Whence have you come?, say to them: We have come from the light, the place where the light came into being of itself. It [established itself], and it revealed itself in their image. If they say to you: Who are you?, say: We are his sons, and we are the elect of the living Father. If they ask you: ‘What is the sign of your Father in you?,’ say to them: ‘It is movement and repose.’” ~Jesus, The Gospel of Thomas (50)
